Given that the US is experiencing a backlog in their nuclear submarine manufacturing program and Australia is waiting for its new SSN-AUKUS fleet to be built, it only makes sense from a logistical perspective for manufacturing to become a combined effort, alleviating delays on both sides of the Pacific. Constraints currently exist to joint manufacturing opportunities being ventured upon – perhaps Australia’s manufacturing industry could do with an injection of foreign capital.
